Choosing a therapist can be a vulnerable and challenging process. You may have been struggling for a long time, or this may be the first time you have felt like you need professional support. I aim to create a space that feels warm, accepting, and compassionate where we can work together to identify what is getting in the way of you living a joyful and purposeful life in wholeness. I use a person-centred approach to address your unique experiences, needs, and goals for therapy. By meeting you where you are, we can collaborate to find a way forward together.
Makayla (she/they) is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and a UBC graduate with a master’s degree in counselling psychology. She is currently working towards her PhD in Counselling Psychology at UBC. She has worked with clients at UBC’s Psychological Services and Counselling Training Centre, in private practice, and in clinical research with a focus on symptoms of depression, anxiety, family relationships, parenting, and life transitions. They have training and experience in working with 2SLGBTQIA+ and non-monogamous clients, and find great joy in walking alongside clients who are exploring their gender and sexuality, or looking to improve their relationships.
