-
You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. It can help if you've been struggling for more than a few weeks, if how you feel is affecting your work, sleep, or relationships, or if you feel stuck in patterns you can't seem to change. Many people also come simply to understand themselves better or learn new skills. If you're unsure, a free consultation can help you decide if therapy is the right next step.
-
The fit matters. You can book a free consultation, use our Find the Right Clinician page, or request a session and we'll help match you with someone suited to your concerns and preferences.
-
Your therapist will get to know you: what brought you in, what you've been experiencing, and what you hope to change. You can share as much or as little as you're comfortable with. Together you'll talk about goals and how therapy could work for you. There's no pressure to cover everything in the first session.
-
It depends on what you're working on, your goals, and how you're responding. Some people see progress in a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support. Your therapist will check in regularly and work with you to decide what's right.
-
For many concerns, yes. Online sessions let you meet from home anywhere in BC, which can make therapy easier to fit into your life. In-person sessions are available at our Burnaby office. Your therapist can help you decide which suits you.
-
Yes. What you discuss is kept private, with limited exceptions required by law or ethics, such as a risk of serious harm to yourself or someone else, or a court order. Your therapist will explain these at the start.
-
You can see our prices on our fees page. Many extended health benefit plans cover therapy with a Registered Psychologist, Canadian Certified Counsellor, or Registered Clinical Counsellor. Coverage varies by plan — we recommend confirming your benefits with your insurer before your first appointment. We provide detailed receipts for all sessions which you can submit to your insurer for reimbursement.
